Do you have any strange or extra characters in the xml output that might make the whole stuff bork? For our case, the svn command was not in the user's PATH, but there was no way to figure this out without custom loggers and 2 hours of debugging. I had to setup the "scm_git_command:" in the configuration.yml in order for redmine to find the binary.
